After more than 25 years and over 6,000 sky tours in our on-site observatory, we have shown the magic of the night sky to over 34,000 visitors.

Observer's Inn, nestled in the beautiful oak and pine covered mountains of Julian, is a peaceful, 4.5 acre retreat for those who appreciate nature and wish to rejuvenate their spirits. Uniquely located in northeast San Diego County, we are a scenic drive from the Cleveland National Forest, the Anza Borrego Desert and the Pacific Ocean.

Our guest house is elegantly designed and decorated with ample room, vaulted ceilings, astronomical pictures, and the little extras that make it special for our guests. Each private bedroom has a plush bed, sitting area and full size bathroom with an extra deep tub for soaking or showering.

Our comfortable lobby includes TV, games and a library with hundreds of interesting books, tapes, CDs and DVDs. The breathtaking starry nights make for the perfect location of our astronomical observatory which houses several research grade telescopes.

Your stay with us entitles you to a discounted rate to our inspiring one hour guided tour of the night sky. Guests at Observer's Inn are welcome to bring their own telescopes and binoculars to view the clear, dark skies from concrete pads outside the observatory. During the stay, guests are encouraged to bring their own cell phones for spectacular moon pictures.

Birders will enjoy observing many varieties of native birds in one of the richest birding areas anywhere.

Share common interests of science and nature with other guests in our private observatory. Conversations are thought-provoking and wide ranging.

Other activities include hiking or on our secluded trails, resting in the cool shade under the oaks of "Hammock Heaven." During a season of snowfall, warm up with a hot drink while soaking up the warmth of our nearest star (the sun). At the Observer's Inn, you'll enjoy the quietness of the mountains in our gazebo and a glass of wine from one of our local wineries.
