Historic Julian, a ruggedly beautiful, quaint mountain town had its beginning in 1869 when gold was discovered. Even today there still exists the same charm and mystique of the adventurous western gold mining days. As you walk around town you can't help but feel a part of the past.

At about 4500 feet in elevation the air is fresh and the seasons distinct. In springtime flowers abound, summer days and nights bring warmth, autumn is colorful as leaves change and cozy winters are spent with hot drinks by fireplaces. Snow falls about 5-10 days a year.

Attractions in town include horse carriage rides, craft shops, mine tours, romantic restaurants, wine tasting, apple pies, a 1950 style soda fountain and many year- round scheduled special events.

Within an easy drive you can visit the desert, ocean, high mountains, lakes and many other vacation destinations such as the San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Park, Sea World, Seaport Village, Palomar Observatory, Legoland, Las Vegas style casinos and Mexico.
